Black and Latinx Millennials are most likely to live in or near their home towns.

Aug 09 2022

Black and Latinx Millennials are most likely to live in or near their home towns. According to a new study by the U.S. Census Bureau and Harvard University, “Latinos, Black people and those from low-income families who left home only moving a short distance away.” Because they are statistically less likely to move away, the report shows economic opportunities for Hispanic and Black young adults are typically closer to home as well. The report shows that on average, Latinos were less likely to move far distances “largely in part due to a greater share of Hispanics — 78% — residing in their childhood commuting zone, 11% more than their white counterparts.” On the other hand, Black young adults were likely to move the shortest distances while Asian young adults were most likely to move the greatest distances. YPulse’s Life Milestones and Future Plans report data shows 13% of BIPOC young people are living at home with their parents and working. (NBC)
