After being thrown back into in-person learning/activities this year, kids are choosing to relax this summer—but parents are worried their kids might not be ready for school. More tweens are wanting to kick back this summer and catch up on sleep, yet parents are concerned they’re having too much downtime and won’t be prepared for school later this month. Especially for parents who haven’t been enforcing screen time rules, getting them back on schedule can be tough. Psychologists suggest a two week program for breaking kids’ summertime tech habits that starts with gradually shifting their bedtime earlier because getting enough sleep is a must. It’s also suggested that parents and kids work together to set screen goals in order to slowly reduce screen time. YPulse’s Millennial parenting report found that 70% of Millennial parents agree with the statement “I let my kids have a lot more screen time during quarantine, and still do.” (WSJ)
