Meta is rebranding Facebook to function more like TikTok. The app’s update will feature a new Home tab that showcases content outside of users’ friends and family connections. Similar to TikTok’s For You Page, Facebook’s new “Suggested for You” tab will base what individual users might like to see on their algorithm. Meta has been bullish about growing video on both Facebook and Instagram, but it seems to be doing better on the latter. Facebook’s new push for post discovery has them aiming for more engaging content that is shared and seen by a broader range of people. YPulse has reported that since TikTok has become the biggest hit among Gen Z and Millennials, other apps have been quick to try and replicate their formula and it seems the biggest players in social media will keep borrowing TikTok’s methods to increase their popularity among young consumers.
