The majority of Gen Z are planning to travel in the next 12 months—and they’re willing to spend on it. As young consumers seek to act on their pent-up wanderlust and “revenge travel” trends up, Gen Z is opening their wallets for their dream trips. A recent survey from YouGov shows that 75% of British Gen Z are planning a trip this year, and 44% say they’ll spend more on travel than other leisure activities. YPulse’s recent WE Travel report found that 61% of Gen Z are very/extremely interested in traveling, and 67% agree, “Travel is even more important to me now than it was before COVID.” While the YouGov survey found that Gen Z’s top reason for traveling is to reconnect with loved ones, it also found that 43% are looking for experiences to post on social media. Indeed, YPulse’s travel data shows that 26% of Gen Z say how good a place will look on social media influences where they want to take vacations/travel, and #TravelTikTok is inspiring a new generation of jet-setters who are ready to explore the world after two years of lockdowns.
