Snapchat is extending their mobile app functions by entering web browsers. The social platform is making their flagship video calls and chats available via Google Chrome, launching first to Snapchat+ users in select countries including the U.S. The new browser experience can be accessed via Snap’s website and will include all of the familiar features Gen Z and Millennials know and love: Bitmoji Chat Reactions, Chat Reply, being able to send photo/video Snaps directly from a computer’s webcam, and video chatting with various lenses will be available soon. In order to protect privacy concerns, Snap’s browser features will prevent users from taking any screenshots. YPulse research shows Snapchat is in Gen Z and Millennials’ top ten favorite social media apps and the ability to access it on their computers could increase their use, and even make it a go-to video chatting resource (watch out Zoom).
