Kia is offering limited NFTs to viewers who scan a QR code in their new ad campaign. For the first time, viewers will be able to claim an NFT through a TV ad in collaboration with a product. The commercial is promoting the 2023 Kia Soul crossover SUV and offering 10,100 NFTs that follow the Kia theme. The ad features, “Three popular characters from the Dead Army Skeleton Klub (DASK), a group of computer-generated 3D skeletons whose NFTs can be collected and traded online,” who are driving the new Kia Soul. The skeletons align with Kia’s, “Built for Whoever You Are” message and the tokens are inspired by the original DASK collection that features over 7,000 skeletons. Holders of the NFTs will gain access to member perks including exclusive merch and its Discord server. YPulse research shows only 13% of Gen Z and Millennials have purchased an NFT, however, 38% say they are interested. By having more tangible access to them through QR codes, young consumers may be more inclined to buy. (MarketingDive)
