Gen Z in the U.K. are fueling the food and beverage industry’s summer boom. Though our research shows that Gen Z might not be eating up foodie culture as much as Millennials, a study from restaurant software platform SevenRooms found that 16-24-year-olds are spending an average of £68 weekly in restaurants, pubs, and bars, way more than any other generation. Young Brits do not seem bothered by the recent wave of COVID in Europe, and are more ready than ever to go out with their friends. According to the SevenRooms study, many Gen-Z are looking for “eatertainment”: they want entertainment (e.g. live music, themed food, or a unique location) to be part of their eating out experience. In our WE Experiences report we found that young Europeans are eager to get back to IRL events and experiences, especially going out with friends. In fact, 75% of young Europeans feel that their money is better spent on experiences than buying products. (CateringToday)
