And Victoria’s Secret is the latest brand to the 15 Percent Pledge, committing to selling Black-owned brands. Black-owned Savage x Fenty has taken a major share of the intimates market and become a favorite of BIPOC young consumers. After years of lagging diversity efforts, Victoria’s Secret is promising to establish a system to have 15% of their suppliers be Black-owned, a significant increase from their current 1-2%. The brand is also committing to giving more promotions to Black employees, promising 15% by 2027, and will publish a report on their diversity and inclusion progress later this year. 15 Percent Pledge’s founder Aurora James told YPulse, “The goal of the 15 Percent Pledge is that we instill long-term change within these retailers’ buying strategy and that they continue to invest in the future of the Black community. Fifteen percent is the least they can do.” (ForbesBlack Enterprise)
