In the wake of abortion bans, college students are reconsidering where (and if) they want to go to college.

In the wake of abortion bans, college students are reconsidering where (and if) they want to go to college. Young women are crossing certain colleges off their lists based on their state’s abortion laws in fear that they would not be able to access one safely during their time at school. College counselors are dishing that many of their conversations with young women have been revolving around abortion and some are even writing off their dream schools because of it. Some colleges, like University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, are claiming, “Abortion is ‘a topic of concern for most of the students but not something that’s going to dissuade them from going to one of the most highly selective schools in the country.’” But the reality is, the majority of young women are unsettled by the ban and YPulse research shows, abortion rights and birth control is a top social issue Gen Z is passionate about.
