Millennials are giving career and finance advice to Gen Z on TikTok—imploring that job stability is “overrated.”

Jul 07 2022

Millennials are giving career and finance advice to Gen Z on TikTok—imploring that job stability is “overrated.” Gen Z has been stressing about the impending hardships brought on by both climate change and the housing market and they’re taking to TikTok to ask Millennials for advice along the lines of, “what is something you prioritized in your twenties that you no longer care about in your thirties?” One Millennial’s answer went viral when she said, “Stability in your 20s is an overrated thing, as long as you get your basic needs met.” The overall message is that there is room to make mistakes and change careers, especially since society looks at people doing this in their twenties as a “good try” but they look at people in their thirties struggling with the same things and view them as “having a mid-life crisis.” YPulse research shows inflation is the top problem Gen Z cares about right now and their top financial goals involve saving money, but Millennials on TikTok are telling them to slow down and reminding the gen that they have a whole decade to take risks.
