Snapchat is tapping music tech startup Fwaygo for an in-app mini game that will help users discover new artists. The California based startup is helping independent artists attract a larger following, rapper Young Thug has used the platform to find new music talent to collab with, and now they’re looking to grow their reach with a Snapchat activation. Fwaygo is the latest of 20+ companies (including HBO, TicketMaster, and Headspace) who are opting to participate in Snap’s Mini experiences. Fwaygo’s mini space will focus on a competition amongst the platform’s independent artists, and users will be able to up or downvote their tracks, plus use the audios in videos and other features. The artists will be entered in a competition to win prizes weekly and be eligible to win the eventual grand prize. YPulse research shows brands are increasingly tapping into Snapchat’s massive growth, and 64% of 13-39-year-olds say that most of the new music they hear these days is on social media. (The Drum)
