WASHED Dads is a clothing brand (founded by a Millennial dad) reimagining “what great fathers look like in an authentic way.” According to research from the Civil Society and the American Dialogue, about 3.4 million Black families in the U.S. were led by single moms in 1990. But the Statista Research Department found that by 2020, that number rose to 4.25 million. But one father and entrepreneur wanted to highlight the fathers, especially Black dads, who “are present in their children’s lives.” Millennial Josh Thomas co-founded WASHED Dads (which stands for We Are Super Heroes Every Day) in 2019 as a line of t-shirts so dads could show off how proud they are of being a parent. Right now, the brand offers t-shirts, sweaters, and some hats, which customers often pair with “exclusive sneakers.” (Essence)
