Snapchat is rolling out a new feature that makes it easier for users to collaborate and spread content.Sharing features like Duet have been “a key element of TikTok’s success,” allowing users to build on others’ content and helping make viral hits—and now Snapchat is following suit. The app’s new “Shared Stories” feature allows users who have been added to a group to view a story and contribute to it. Those who have been added to a group can now also add their friends, creating a larger community. Like all stories on the app, a Shared Story will be deleted after 24 hours, yet unlike other Story features, there isn’t a chat component since the idea is more about mass-sharing circulation. The hope is that Stories that others can build on will create more traction, engagement, and creation. Snapchat’s expansive growth has allowed the app to remain a top favorite for Gen Z and Millennials and Shared Stories could foster potential for brands as well, allowing for more easily created user-generated content.
