TikTok is continuing their stretch into the gaming world, and like Twitch, they are allowing users the ability to subscribe to LIVE videos. This new addition to TikTok LIVE will allow content creators to “generate recurring revenue via payments from their top fans.” Similarly to Twitch and YouTube, TikTok will be offering subscribers a number of perks, including subscriber-only chat rooms, custom emotes, and badges, yet the platform intends to stand out from the competition with even more subscriber offerings, like the ability for users to control the cameras on livestreams. YPulse’s Media Consumption Report shows 43% of Gen Z and Millennials are using TikTok to watch video content weekly compared to 14% who are watching Twitch. Ultimately, TikTok is furthering relationships between influencers and users, and LIVE streamers have already begun hinting at this new feature, teasing “stay tuned” promotional content on their socials. Popular streamers are a diverse bunch, ranging from artists, musicians, ASMR creators, dancers, beauty gurus, and more. (TechCrunch, The Verge)
