TikTok has become a major player in the music “ecosystem.” Songs used as TikTok sounds have the ability to top charts, and the app has become well known for resurfacing old music hits as well. The power of audio on the app has created stars out of many music artists, and increasingly those who started out as TikTok hits are becoming mainstream stars. The recent release of Jack Harlow’s new album proves how TikTok musical artists have the ability to become mainstream; and potentially stay there. Harlow’s hit “First Class” went viral on the app well before he ever performed it live, now his new album Come Home the Kids Miss You features top artists like Drake, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Timberlake, showing some of the top listened to artists by Gen Z and Millennials are now collaborating with TikTok-famous artists.
