YouTube wants to find the next big gaming creator. The social media platform is launching a $100,000 prize global competition show to find the next breakout gaming creator. U.K.-based gaming creator Ali-A (@OMGitsAliA) will host the global competition, which kicks off this Saturday, and a show following the participants’ journeys will debut in June. Participants will compete in weekly challenges to win the $100,000 grand prize, and the competition signals how YouTube is developing special-event programming in the aftermath of shutting down its original content group. YPulse told you how social platforms have been doling out payments to support—and recruit—content creators to their platform, and YouTube’s upcoming competition shows how media brands are banking on the future of the creator economy.
