Latina women may “never recover wage gap losses,” according to a report. According to the National Women’s Law Center report, women of all races who worked full-time, year-round in 2020 were paid on average just 83 cents for every dollar paid to men. According to Jasmine Tucker—the report’s author—Latinas “face some of the largest wage gaps.” The research found that Latinas only earn 57 cents for every dollar paid to a non-Hispanic man, which means they have to work at least 21 months (nearly two years) to match a White man’s yearly income. But even with a high-paying job, the gap still remains the widest for Latina women. Tucker estimates that Latinas lose close to $29,000 every year due to the pay disparities, which is enough money to pay for a college tuition or a down payment on a house. (NBC News)
