London’s mayor has launched a campaign to address violence against women. The ad, “Have a word with yourself, then your mates,” acts as a call to arms for male bystanders to speak up about misogynistic behavior and harassment toward women, featuring a man harassing a woman while she waits for a taxi before his friend steps in to stop him. More than four in five 18-24-year-old females in the U.K. have experienced sexual harassment in public, leading London’s mayor to call the situation “an epidemic of violence against women and girls, committed by men,” while calling on men to change it. YPulse’s WE Causes / Charity and Activism research found that gender equality / sexism is the No. 2 most important issue young Europeans care about today—and the top issue among women. Sexual harassment / abuse is also one of the top issues young Europeans would like to see brands get involved with. (Campaign Live)
