The Sandbox and World of Women are creating new opportunities for brands and users in the virtual world. YPulse’s Metaverse trend research found that Gen Z is already in the metaverse (meaning, they’re actively involved in virtual world games), while use of web3 games is growing. Now, World of Women (WoW), which is aimed at empowering women in the NFT space, is teaming up with The Sandbox in a five-year partnership focusing on “uplifting the metaverse ecosystem by supporting artists and funding projects, educating newcomers on Web 3, communicating to give more visibility to women-centric causes, and giving back to charities.” A $25 million grant through the WoW Foundation will make this possible, bringing courses and initiatives like WoW University and the WoW Academy to The Sandbox in hopes of garnering a larger female audience. Additionally, the partnership will offer business development opportunities for NFT creators, and The Sandbox will launch interoperable WoW avatars, a space for a WoW museum, and free interactive lessons through the WoW University. This partnership shows how brands can tap virtual world games like The Sandbox for purpose-driven initiatives, and how the space is becoming more inclusive—female artists account for just 5% of NFT sales. YPulse research shows 9% of Gen Z and Millennial females invest in cryptocurrencies as an additional stream of income, compared to 27% of males. (Glossy)
