Over half of teens say they would rather create their own business than work for someone else. YPulse’s What’s Next for Work trend research found that 53% of Gen Z aspire to be entrepreneurs, which also tops the list of young people’s dream jobs. As Gen Z teens start thinking about their careers, a recent Junior Achievement USA survey of 1,000 13-17-year-olds found that 60% of teenagers are more interested in someday starting their own business instead of working a traditional job. Nearly 40% say their inspiration for entrepreneurship stems from social media influencers and celebrities. Additionally, 45% of teens say they want to learn the ropes of entrepreneurship from current business owners and over one-third would be interested in programs at—or after—school that teach entrepreneurship. Our Self-Taught trend research found that business skills is a topic young people want to learn in school. (CNBC)
