The American Girl Cafe isn’t just for kids; influencers are dining at the cafe to create content and relive their childhood memories. Millennials escaping to their favorite childhood activities isn’t a new concept—YPulse’s Playtime trend research explores how this gen has reimagined “playtime” by enjoying activities and toys that provide a dose of nostalgia and comfort to help them cope with adulthood. Now, going to the American Girl Cafe to drink alcohol and create entertaining social content has become a new favorite pastime of influencers as they revisit their childhood activities. In a TikTok video posted by 25-year-old Sally Darr Griffin, she takes viewers on a journey where “American Girls grow into American Women,” documenting herself and her influencer friends eating brunch and drinking mimosas at the American Girl Cafe with their dolls. The video generated more than 600,000 views on TikTok, inspiring a micro-trend of grown up Millennials dining and drinking with their dolls: #AmericanGirlCafe on TikTok counts 1.4M views, and a handful of clips are from nostalgic Gen Z and Millennials taking their dolls on a drinking / eating excursion at the cafe.
