Crypto Besties and Boys Club are two women-founded collectives helping “demystify cryptocurrency” for young women.

Feb 16 2022

Crypto Besties and Boys Club are two women-founded collectives helping “demystify cryptocurrency” for young women. Founded by Rima Patel (26-years-old) and Jaiya Gill (23-years-old), Crypto Besties is serving up free educational content via events on Twitter Spaces, Discord, and YouTube to help Gen Z and Millennial women learn everything they need to know about the male-dominated crypto space. In their online events, Patel and Gill offer a crash course on building a “digital piggy bank,” from understanding how the blockchain works, how cryptocurrencies differ from Altcoins, how a DAO operates, risks of investing in crypto, and where to start one’s journey. Meanwhile, Boys Club is “a dinner series and group chat for the crypto curious,” aimed at helping women and nonbinary people navigate the NFT world and Web3 through IRL conversations and community building. YPulse’s finance research shows Gen Z and Millennial males are more likely to invest in cryptocurrency than females, and collectives like Crypto Besties and Boys Club are on a mission to close this gender gap.
