Sculptural decor, vintage prints and fabrics, and nature-inspired motifs are some of the home trends on the rise.

Jan 20 2022

Sculptural decor, vintage prints and fabrics, and nature-inspired motifs are some of the home trends on the rise. YPulse’s Shopping for the Home research found that 79% of Gen Z and 91% of Millennials plan to buy something for their home in the next year, and as young consumers continue building out their interiors, they’re fueling searches for a variety of aesthetics and decor. Interest in Japandi (an aesthetic described as Scandinavian functionality meets Japanese minimalism) is growing, with searches for the aesthetic up 256%—boucle chairs and minimalist vases are some of the most popular home accents representing the trend. Consumers are taking a less is more approach, treating their homes similar to modern art galleries: searches for sculptural objects have increased 92%; searches for arched mirrors are up 25%; and textured wall art and textured vases are up 154% and 58%, respectively. And of course, viral home accents seen on social media (think sunset lamps, checkerboard rugs, and curved mirrors) are some of the “It” decor items. The mixing of vintage prints and fabrics is also in—searches for upholstered walls are up 73%, while tufted velvet chairs have increased 39%. Lastly, dinner parties are more popular than ever, leading to a jump in searches for tablescape decor (up 319%), centerpiece bowls (up 41%), and candelabras (up 14%). The Cottagecore home aesthetic is also still thriving, too, but we already told you that. (Sourcing Journal)
