Having money for debt and expenses is the top reason Gen Z in the U.K. have a side hustle. YPulse’s WE What’s Next for Work trend research found that 31% of 18-24-year-olds and 26% of 25-39-year-olds in Western Europe currently work outside of their primary job. According to new research by Airtasker, up to 70% of Gen Z freelancers in the U.K. have a second job outside of their primary one. Twenty percent of these Gen Z freelance side hustlers say they use the extra income for debt and expenses, 14% are saving for a housing deposit, 12% say the job helps fulfill an interest / hobby, and 9% use it as a way to learn a new skill.
