Young investors are dishing out NFTs and cryptocurrency as holiday gifts.

Dec 20 2021

Young investors are dishing out NFTs and cryptocurrency as holiday gifts. As interest in cryptocurrency and NFTs grows, some young investors are eyeing them as holiday gifts thanks to their accessibility. Cynthia Gentry is a 23-year-old in San Antonio who plans on gifting an NFT of digital land lot for her family to share in the metaverse, and she plans to buy collectible NFTs for her mom and sister aimed at empowering women from projects like World of Women and Crypto Coven; Anisha Sunkerneni is also eyeing digital assets as holiday gifts to introduce her close friends and family to their first digital assets, and will gift Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains and NFTs so they can start building (and personalize) their on-chain profile; and 24-year-old Allison Reichel is using the amount she usually spends in gifts / gift cards to buy cryptocurrency if her family and friends are interested in it. According to Gentry’s 19-year-old sister, Imani, who is also buying her family NFTs for Christmas, “I think sending digital gifts will be the norm and [part of the future] because of how accessible it is…It saves time and wrapping paper, and it’s cooler, in my opinion.” (CNBC)
