Amazon plans to take on Western Europe’s biggest supermarket chains by opening hundreds of grocery stores. Amazon opened six Amazon Fresh markets in the U.K. this year, and has announced ambitious plans to roll out 260 more in the region over the next three years. Additionally, the ecommerce giant says it plans to open supermarkets in Germany, Spain, and Italy next year. YPulse’s youth brand tracker data shows that Amazon is one the top three brands among young Europeans and one of the top brands they feel a community around. Meanwhile, Amazon is young Europeans’ top mobile shopping app, signaling that their loyalty to the brand could extend IRL, too. (Business Insider)
