Millennial women are opening retail investment accounts at a record rate. According to a study from Fidelity, 71% of women ages 25-40-years-old are now investing outside of retirement compared to 67% of Gen X and 62% of Boomer women. Investments are primarily going towards individual stocks and bonds and social investing platforms are popular resources female retail traders are relying on to buy and sell assets. The amount of women investing is expected to increase, with nine out of 10 women surveyed saying they plan to take steps within the next 12 months to help their money grow. Education is needed, however, with four in 10 women saying they’re comfortable with their investing knowledge, and YPulse’s personal finance research shows that 82% of Gen Z and Millennials have sought financial advice and they’re going to social media and investment apps to educate themselves.
