Oct 14 2021

Squishmallows is celebrating over 100 million plush toys sold with a social media contest. Squishmallows exploded in popularity among Gen Z and Millennials during the pandemic and has quickly become the next generation’s Webkinz and Beanie Babies. Now, the brand is giving fans a chance to get some rare plushies for their collections. The #GetGoldenHans video hashtag contest is running on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter until October 15, asking Squishmallows fans to submit a short video celebrating their favorite plush toys and Squishmallows squad members. A total of 100 contestants will be chosen, and 75 winners will score the Hans with Golden Details (one of Squishmallows’ core characters) plush toy while 25 winners will win an exclusive 24-inch version of Golden Hans. Only 30 Golden Hans are being produced, making it one of “the most rare Squishmallows ever” according to the brand, and one is also being auctioned off on eBay to help raise money for Art in Action—an organization providing classroom lessons built on visual arts experiences to inspire critical thinking and creativity. Additionally, Squishmallows is donating $50,000 to Art in Action to support their mission. Social media has been a major part of the brand’s growing popularity, with fans sharing their collections and #squishmallows earning 2B views on TikTok, and the brand has leaned into their popularity on social platforms to engage with fans.
