Meanwhile, Cosmopolitan teamed up with Digitalundivided and tennis star Venus Williams to launch an annual program recognizing women of color entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, Cosmopolitan teamed up with Digitalundivided and tennis star Venus Williams to launch an annual program recognizing women of color entrepreneurs. YPulse’s Life Plans, Rewritten trend research found that 55% of 13-39-year-old females aspire to be entrepreneurs. To specifically support BIPOC women entrepreneurs, the Hearst-owned lifestyle magazine brand and nonprofit group put out a call of entries for women of color interested in being recognized in The New C-Suite program, and received 500 submissions from founders representing more than 30 states across the country. Williams, who is the magazine’s October cover star, was among the judges who helped narrow down the list to 12 women from 10 companies. Jonelie Vélez-Román, CEO/co-founder; Ailed González-Quintana, COO/co-founder of Tasty Smart, a Vega Baja, Puerto Rico-based maker of gluten-free, plant-based snacks; and Veena Somareddy, co-founder and chief technology officer at Fort Worth, Texas-based Neuro Rehab VR, were among some of the honorees. According to Cosmopolitan Editor-in-Chief Jessica Pels, they plan on finding ways to support the honorees along with featuring them across their platforms, and hope that they can “inspire other women of color entrepreneurs to pursue their passions [and] that investors take notice.” (AdAgeCosmopolitan)
