DAZN is making moves to become the go-to sports streaming platform for young Europeans. In an effort to become the “Netflix of sports,” UK-based global platform DAZN is expanding its offerings to include wagering and betting, fantasy leagues, and commerce in addition to streaming popular games and matches. YPulse’s Scouting Next Gen Sports Fans trend report found that 63% of 13-39-year-olds in the U.S. consider themselves a sports fan, and 70% of young sports fans agree: “Being a fan of a sports team is a big part of who I am.” But streaming and social media have disrupted viewing behaviors, creating opportunities for streaming services to reach these fandoms. YPulse’s data also shows that 33% of young sports fans are only interested in sports if betting is involved, signaling that DAZN’s move to offer betting alongside streaming could be a winning combination.
