Spider-Man is getting a remake for the nursery school set—and their Millennial parents. Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends will be their first-ever series aimed at preschoolers, providing content that’s less scary and loud than, say, Avengers Endgame, but still provides a dose of the superheroes that they already love. Spidey and his friends will tackle “age-appropriate” issues like lost backpacks and learning patience, and be given some modern updates that will appeal to Millennial parents looking for diversity in their kids’ content. Peter Parker is just one member of the “Spidey Team,” which includes his best friends Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. The show was mindful to contribute to “the trend of broadening how gender norms are portrayed on TV for this age group,” even making Doc Ock a female villain. Other superheroes will make guest appearances on the Disney show, and of course, there will be a new line of books and toys featuring the characters to tempt these new “lifetime fans,” just in time for the holidays.
