Retailers are hoping shops-within-a-shop will bring in toy-hunting parents this holiday. Target is amping up the number of Disney shops inside its stores “to drive foot traffic,” bringing the number of Targets with special sections of Disney-themed merch to 160. Toys are a strong category for the brand, growing 20% in Q2 of this year compared to 2020. Meanwhile, Macy’s is opening 400 Toys R Us locations within its stores, a partnership that marks the biggest “retail venture” for the classic toy brand since they shut down their own stores in 2017.
