TikTok is expanding the platform’s in-app parental controls.

Sep 02 2021

TikTok is expanding the platform’s in-app parental controls. YPulse’s social media monitor shows that 29% of Millennial parents report their children use TikTok, and the app is giving them more tools to make that use feel safe. TikTok’s Family Pairing feature now includes educational resources designed to help parents better support their young users, allowing parents to connect their accounts with their child’s and track screen-time use, direct messages, set limits within the app, and more. The app partnered with online safety nonprofit Internet Matters to develop resources in collaboration with young users, giving a voice to both parents and children on TikTok. YPulse’s tech device and ownership data shows that 81% of Millennial parents are worried about their children spending too much time on screens, and TikTok’s new Family Pairing resources are helping young parents have healthy conversations about app usage with their kids.
