Every Millennial parent knows about “Paw Patrol”—but many weren’t ready to bring their kids to the theaters for the franchise’s first big movie.

Every Millennial parent knows about Paw Patrol—but many weren’t ready to bring their kids to the theaters for the franchise’s first big movie. Paw Patrol: The Movie premiered in cinemas and on Paramount+ August 20, and brought in “only $13 million,” a potential signal that Millennial parents aren’t feeling safe enough to bring back family movie nights out. According to a Comcast expert, “The family audience has a different set of priorities when it comes to how they want to watch movies,” and one of those may increasingly be convenience. Why go out to see the kids’ favorite characters in a big movie when you can stream it at home? YPulse’s entertainment survey found that Millennial parents are more likely than non-parents to say they’ll be watching movies at home as often or more after COVID than they have been, potential proof that the allure of convenience is stronger than the draw of a big screen.
