Millennial parents want to put “better-for-you versions of cafeteria classics” in their kids’ lunchboxes. This generation of parents is sending their kids to school packing a combination of health and nostalgia, with many seeking out reinventions of convenient snacks and packaged foods that they can feel better about feeding to their little ones. CPG research firm Catalina reports that sales for nutritional bars are up 24%, variety snack packs up 26%, and low or reduced fat snack sales up 17% for August 2021 compared to the year before. Brands like Good Crisps, Unreal, Muddy Bites, and Dino Bars are being built to cater to these parents’ preferences, and YPulse’s food shopping survey found that 52% of Millennial parents said they were more likely to buy a product with an all-natural label (Morning Brew).
