TikTokers are music bloggers now.

Aug 20 2021

TikTokers are music bloggers now. Young TikTokers are making a name for themselves with curated Spotify playlists—many of which are going viral with follower counts between 30,000 and 75,000. Carly (a.k.a. @hahacoolgtgbye) first started posting about her playlists on TikTok in January 2020, and by spring she had reached 25,000 followers on the app for her content which is dedicated to “mak[ing] indie music more accessible.” Music industry experts and artists have taken note of Carly’s popularity, asking her to promote their music or be included on her Spotify playlists. Masked Mortal (@themakedmortal) is using his site to monetize his music influence via merch and song reviews, and Adrian (@adrianjoeym) is making music content full-time after realizing the power of his organic posts about his Spotify playlists which have helped him garner 200,000 followers on TikTok, plus 30,000 followers for his “we on auxx” playlist.
