Trucker hats are the latest Y2K staple winning over young shoppers.

Aug 09 2021

Trucker hats are the latest Y2K staple winning over young shoppers. A resurgence of ‘90s and 2000s fashion has been happening for quite some time with scrunchies, velour tracksuits, and baggy jeans among the several pieces making a comeback. Now, trucker hats are making their way to brands and retailers including Brixton and Posse, Nordstrom, and Depop which have been selling the style for the past three months. Megan Thee Stallion, Addison Rae Easterling, Travis Scott, and more influencers and celebrities have been seen sporting the style, and french luxury brand Koché even partnered with Von Dutch (an OG trucker hat brand) on a hat design. Depop notes that trucker hats from Ed Hardy and Von Dutch topped the list for most searched-for items on its site during the first week of August. Meanwhile, Google and Pinterest searches for “Y2K” and “2000s fashion” officially hit their peak in July, and fashion brands like Asos, Urban Outfitters, and Madewell continue to spotlight their Y2K styles in their messaging to attract young shoppers.
