HBO Max is stepping into podcasts. The streaming platform reportedly wants to turn some of its scripted originals into podcasts, and is already planning a release for the first: Batman: The Audio Adventures. HBO Max subscribers will have access to the ad-free audio content only, meaning the show won’t be available inside other podcasting apps or through an RSS feed. The Batman podcast will feature Jeffrey Wright as Batman and Rosario Dawson as Batwoman. Plans for We Stay Looking (a scripted sequel to Issa Rae’s Looking for Latoya) and an OC companion podcast called Welcome to the OC, Bitches are also in development. YPulse’s TV and Entertainment data shows that 62% of 13-39-year-olds listen to podcasts, and HBO Max’s attempt to become an audio and video destination could help the platform produce even more entertaining content options for young people.
