Government groups are teaming up with influencers and celebrities to encourage young people to get vaccinated. Following Olivia Rodrigo’s visit to the White House, more government authorities are enlisting online celebrities to reach unvaccinated youth. Christina Najjar (a.k.a. Tinx) teamed up with Dr. Anthony S. Fauci for a question-and-answer session about what she dubbed “happy vaxx summer,” asking him commonly-held concerns surrounding the vaccine like if it was safe to go out for drinks or if people should be concerned about getting pregnant after getting the vaccine; actor Eugenio Derbez hosted an Instagram Live with Dr. Fauci, discussing similar questions like if the vaccine can protect people from new COVID variants; States and cities including New Jersey, Colorado, Oklahoma City County, San Jose, Calif., and more have teamed up with marketing agencies to pinpoint local influencers to promote getting vaccinated. Brands have also been encouraging vaccination status via free food and freebies, and enlisting influencers to dispel common vaccine myths with medical professionals could be even more helpful for reaching youth.
