Walmart is covering college tuition costs for its employees. All Walmart and Sam’s Club employees (both part- and full-time) are now eligible to receive free college education from 10 select colleges and universities paid for by Walmart. Book costs will also be covered, and employees can attend institutions including the University of Arizona and Purdue University Global, or take educational courses through Voxy and Pathstream. With COVID-19 changing the way students attend college, tuition and school-related costs have been top considerations for delaying or reconsidering their education, and 77% of Millennial parents are worried about their child having student loans according to YPulse’s education research. Walmart’s new program signals an opportunity for young employees to work and attend school while prioritizing their financial goals. While Walmart has offered reduced-cost educational programs through its Live Better U Program introduced in 2018, the company’s new effort is one of the most comprehensive college education programs to date.
