Gen Z is being called “Generation Resilient” as the pandemic continues to influence how they think about their education and career goals.With many life milestones put on hold or drastically altered for young people due to COVID-19, they’re taking an open-mind approach to their futures going forward. According to a survey by Pearson of college students and parents of school age children, 80% of college students say their generation has become more resilient because of the pandemic. Another 72% reported a new sense of urgency for completing their education, 45% are being inspired to consider a career in healthcare and science, and some have reconsidered their area of study because of the pandemic. They’re also investing more in themselves by taking on learning opportunities on top of school. YPulse’s Life Plans Rewritten trend data shows that 48% of young people agree that the pandemic has provided them with an opportunity to change their life path, and their creating their own playbook for how they tackle future life milestones.
