TikTok creators in the U.K. are remaking Old Spice’s classic ad. The growth of young users on TikTok over the last year has been enormous. YPulse research shows that 48% of Gen Z and 31% of Millennials in Western Europe are watching content on the app weekly, giving brands that can harness its power a huge opportunity to engage young audiences. To prove this, TikTok European Creative Lab tasked U.K. creators with remaking and freshening up an 11-year-old ad campaign, Old Spice’s “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like.” The original ad featured Isaiah Mustafa and was hugely popular when it was released in 2010, earning no less than 37 Cannes Lions. But as Tom Skinner, executive creative director for Creative Lab Europe, said, “a lot had changed” in the decade since the ad ran. With new TikTok-specific transitions and a dose of British humor, younger generations are experiencing the ad—and the brand—in a new light. (Adweek)
