Disney is launching a content brand for BIPOC creators exclusively on Hulu. Led by Freeform president Tara Duncan, Onyx Collective will feature content creators of color and underrepresented voices exclusively. The first project includes the Questlove documentary Summer of Soul (…or, When the Revolution Could Not be Televised), which focuses on the story of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, which is often referred to as the “Black Woodstock.” Other projects include The 1619 Project docuseries produced by Oprah as well features from Insecure writer Natasha Rothwell and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
