Stella Artois is hosting a chess challenge on Twitch, riding the recent popularity surge for the game. YPulse told you how Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit sparked a sudden increase in people’s interest in chess, and now bev alcohol brands are tapping into the game’s popularity. Stella Artois is featuring grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura (a.k.a the second-ranked chess player in the world and the player who reportedly popularized chess streaming) for the Bullet Chess Speedrun, where he’ll attempt to break the Chess.com record for most unique bullet chess victories in an hour. Nakamura will stream the competition on his Twitch channel on June 1, and players can even sign up to compete against him via Stella Artois’s website. Branded prize giveaways will be awarded throughout the event including limited-edition Stella Artois chess boards and chalices to spectators who comment in the Twitch chat. (Marketing Dive)
