Questlove and Black Thought (a.k.a. The Roots) are creating a series of animated shorts for Disney Junior. YPulse research shows that 80% of Gen Z and Millennials want the entertainment that they watch to feature diverse casts and individuals, and diversity in children’s entertainment has become a bigger priority for the industry in recent years. Now Disney Junior will be showcasing these values in Questlove’s and Black Thought’s new series Rise Up, Sing Out, which is designed to “empower and uplift the future generations…while [helping them] learn the tools to navigate real-world issues of racial injustice.” The series is set to launch later this year, and will feature music from the artists that celebrates diversity, all the while giving families the tools to start having conversations with their preschoolers “through music and relatable kid experiences.” (Uproxx)
