Walmart is tapping Netflix’s Waffles + Mochi to cook up an interactive, online experience for kids that promotes healthy eating. Streaming platforms are in a race to rule kids’ content, and Waffles + Mochi, Michelle Obama’s kids cooking show, is one of Netflix’s recently launched family originals. In collaboration with the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), Walmart is building on the show’s culinary adventures for kids launching The Hidden World of Waffles + Mochi, a microsite where kids and their families can watch educational videos that promote healthy eating. Kids can play mini-games that show how “nutritious food can be fun,” learn how to cook with specific ingredients, and earn digital badges as a reward for the videos they watch. For every digital badge earned on The Hidden World of Waffles + Mochi site, Walmart will donate to PHA’s Pass the Love campaign with the goal of donating 1 million meals to families in need.
