Move over Clubhouse—Discord says it could be the next app for brands to connect with Gen Z. While social media apps rush to integrate audio features that mirror Clubhouse’s audio rooms, Discord wants brands to know how to build community with Gen Z within the app. The gaming server meets social messaging app has been around since 2015, and it’s telling brands how to create their own servers to drive connections with young consumers. Coding company Kano created their own Q&A Discord server to help build community with parents, teachers, and children who use their products, and Discord is encouraging brands to follow their steps. YPulse’s Social Media Deep Dive trend research shows that 32% of 13-17-year-olds use the platform, and while Discord doesn’t sell advertising, they’re helping brands find ways to creatively connect with consumers.
