Many Gen Z and Millennials have changed their career plans because of the pandemic. YPulse’s Life Plans, Rewritten trend report found that 62% of 13-39-year-olds say the pandemic has made them reassess their career goals, and a Liberty Communications and Opinium survey reports that COVID has changed what many young people want out of their careers. One third of respondents say they wanted their careers “to enable them to make the most of their life outside of work,” while 46% who had jobs felt like their roles were not taking them into their desired career direction, and 35% felt it was unlikely they would end up in their desired role. Highly competitive hiring processes and connection difficulties during virtual interviews were among the challenges respondents said they faced when applying for jobs. (HR Dive)
