| The way kids use devices is changing because of the pandemic. According to data from the “Dubit Trends: Share of Time 2020 v 2019” report, while kids’ average weekly screen time grew by 11% between October 2019 and October 2020, it wasn’t driven by increased gameplay video consumption. Instead, it was driven by school work and social media, which were the top reasons kids used electronic devices. There was a 69% increase in the amount of time kids spent using a computer or laptop for education last year, mostly among 10-year-olds. Forty-eight percent of eight-15-year-olds used computers for homework and assignments, which was a 30% increase from 2019. (Kidscreen) |
