Thanks to the GameStop stock fiasco, teens are flocking to TikTok to talk about investing—and old movies about the market are trending. After the Reddit-fueled rise of GameStop’s shares last week, viral posts have been popping up all over TikTok to explain the situation to users who aren’t as familiar with the stock market. Hundreds of users posted videos full of graphs, analogies, and “personal anecdotes.” Some were already turning to the platform for financial advice—but the GameStop frenzy pushed the interest even further: The hashtag #investing has 1.6 billion views, #gamestop has over 583.9 million views, and #buyinggamestop has 268.2K views. Meanwhile, movies like The Big Short and The Wolf of Wall Street have “skyrocketed” to the top of Apple TV’s most-ordered titles. (Business Insider, Uproxx)
